Volkswagen has not yet introduced its Golf-based T-Roc SUV, but has already admitted that a high-performance variant is possible.

According to the VW development manager Frank Welsch, the small SUV, which shares its subsoils with the Audi Q2 and Seat Ateca, could get an R-badged version.
"Yes, of course I could imagine more powerful engines and it is prepared for the eventuality I would not call it a GTI – an SUV is not a suitable car for this badge, maybe – but I could imagine it as R" , He said Autocar

"Our first task is to start the standard car and see the reaction to it." If the demand for a stronger car is, we can probably satisfy it "

Since the T-Roc uses the same platform as the Golf and therefore the Golf R, the SUV with the R & # 39 ; S 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine should not be too difficult. As it stands, this engine delivers 310 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque, but these numbers could swell to balance the increased weight of the T-Roc.

A few days ago espionage recordings with the standard T-Roc emerged unhardened for the first time. The "Baby Tiguan" shares very few styling cues from the original T-Roc concept, but certainly has the potential to be quite common in R-guise when it"s bathed in aggressive body parts and add-ons.
